Characteristics of the Department
The Department provides comprehensive diagnostic tests (non-invasive and invasive) essential to contemporary diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases. It conducts up-to-date cardiac treatment, both conservative and interventional.
Number of beds: 53, including 6 monitored beds with possibility of telemetric monitoring. Part of Intensive Cardiac Care which consists of 6 beds offers haemodynamic monitoring, temporary cardiac stimulation and circulatory support by means of intra-aortic balloon pump.
Scope of medical services
Non-invasive diagnostic tests:
- ECG,
- stress test – exercise ECG and oxygen consumption test,
- ECG monitoring and monitoring of arterial pressure with the use of Holter method,
- transthoracic, transesophageal and stress echocardiography,
- optical coherence tomography of the coronary arteries (OCT),
- angiography of all vascular areas,
- cardiac and vascular computed tomography (CT),
- cardiac and vascular magnetic resonance (NMR),
- laboratory diagnostic tests of cardiac diseases – full scope of tests.
Surgical procedures:
- cardiac catheterization,
- angiography of the coronary arteries (coronary angiography),
- intravascular ultrasound examination of coronary arteries (IVUS),
- coronary angioplasty,
- balloon aortic and mitral valvuloplasty,
- percutaneous and transapical aortic valve implantation,
- percutaneous repair of mitral regurgitation with the use of MitraClip,
- closure of interatrial and intraventricular defects,
- paravalvular leak closure,
- alcohol septal ablation in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy,
- aortic arch stenting,
- left atrial appendage closure,
- electrical cardioversion,
- implantation of cardioverter defibrillators,
- implantation of peacemakers.
Unique medical procedures and specialisations:
The Department specialises in interventional cardiology and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on coronary arteries, percutaneous left atrial appendage closure and closure of interatrial defects as well as unique procedures, such as paravalvular leak closure. In cooperation with the Department of Cardiac Surgery, the team performs percutaneous and transapical aortic valve implantation as well as procedures on the mitral valve. The Department conducts full cardiac diagnostics with the use computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (NMR).
